Overview

Quantum materials are solids whose properties are strongly governed by the laws of quantum mechanics. Because of these quantum effects, they can exhibit unusual and sometimes surprising behavior. For example, superconductors can carry electric current with no energy loss at very low temperatures, and topological materials allow electric current to flow only along their surfaces or edges in a highly stable manner that is protected by their nontrivial quantum topology.

Owing to these remarkable properties, quantum materials are now receiving considerable attention as key materials for future quantum technologies, such as quantum computers, ultra-efficient electronics, and advanced sensors. For these reasons, research on quantum materials has become one of the central topics in condensed-matter physics.

My research focuses on understanding unconventional superconductors, such as cuprates, iron-based superconductors, and heavy-fermion materials, from a topological perspective. I am particularly interested in exploring new topological phases and in deepening our understanding of superconducting properties and pairing mechanisms through topological methods.
